What are Medicare Supplements?

Medicare supplements, or Medigap, fills in the “gaps” in cost coverage of Original Medicare. Essentially, any out-of-pocket costs of Original Medicare are instead covered by your Medigap plan.

While supplement plans do not provide additional coverage, they do cover the high copayments, coinsurance, and other costs of Original Medicare. Copayments and coinsurance are fees charged for the use of healthcare services/equipment. Here are just a few of the payments covered by Medigap:

  • Part A Hospital Deductible
  • Part B Annual Deductible
  • Most Outpatient Services and Medical Supplies
  • Skilled Nursing Facility Care
  • The First 3 Pints of Blood Needed for Blood Transfusion

There are many different Medicare Supplement plan options to choose from, each offering a different variety of coverage options. This allows for personalization of your cost and care needs, making it a great option for Medicare Beneficiaries.
